The Sherris Legal supports the Grace & Grits Homeless Ministry. The Sherris Legal team recently worked with the Grace & Grits Homeless Ministry in Sanford to assist those in need. One of the focuses is to help educate the homeless of benefits they are eligible to receive. Often the disabled homeless population does not know how to apply for social security disability. The Sherris Legal team assists those that are eligible to navigate through our complex system.

For the past 23 years, St. Peter’s Lake Mary, in cooperation with 18 area churches, serves the homeless. They serve quality meals Wednesday Evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the Sanford Civic Center in downtown Sanford. The average attendance is 150 people. Each church takes a turn preparing and serving a variety of hot meals. Local supermarkets donate baked goods and bread which can be taken home as well. They also have several tables set up with used, clean clothing which people can take with them.

St Peter’s also serves 60 – 75 people a hot breakfast of meat, eggs, pancakes, grits and cereal Saturday mornings from 8:00-9:00 am at First Presbyterian at 4th and Park in Sanford. They also provide donated pastries and bread which can be taken home. Sherris Legal supports the Grace & Grits Homeless Ministry and its mission!
